Located in the heart of the Derb el Hadj Quarter of Tarouddant’s ancient Medina, the friendly and courteous Moultazim family have renovated this early 20th century riad of thick adobe walls hidden away close to the town centre in the Escheresque winding alleyways of this pleasant “Grandmother of Marrakech”. The warm welcome and calm once through the entrance are immediately apparent. The inner courtyard is surrounded by the rooms which, although not large or luxurious, are furnished in true Berber style. What is outstanding and of an extremely high standard are the meals, be they for breakfast, lunch or dinner, so much so they are recommended in the French Magazine Saveurs; you are also invited to assist Latifa, Habib’s wife in preparing and presenting memorable meals of an extremely high standard served by their 20-something daughter, Maryam.\r\nTheir four-bedroom house surrounds a large central courtyard with twin, bird-friendly gardens with parasols, orange and lemon trees, banana palms, and bougainvillea, separated by a dining area with a long, communal table. The 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 quadruple rooms are simply furnished but perfectly adequate. Three rooms can take at least one extra bed, which is a plus for families and one comes away feeling as if one has been an honoured guest in this friendly, informal atmosphere. The town itself has remained relatively unspoilt by French colonialism and gives you an accurate picture of ’traditional’ Morocco. Tarouddant has some fantastic examples of Berber architecture surrounded by huge, red, mud brick walls, and bring to mind stories about the desert forts of the French Foreign Legion. Like all towns and cities in North Africa, the souq is the focal point and; like all souqs it is crowded and full of handicrafts of very high quality and can be bought extremely cheaply. \x3c/p\x3e\n\x3cdiv class=\"services\"\x3e\n\x3ch3\x3eCharacteristics : \x3c/h3\x3e\n\x3cul\x3e\n\x3cli\x3eAn hour’s drive from Agadir\x3c/li\x3e\n\x3cli\x3e A delightful riad with 4 air-conditioned rooms\x3c/li\x3e\n\x3cli\x3e Central patio and gardens\x3c/li\x3e\n\x3cli\x3e Restaurant serving excellent cuisine\x3c/li\x3e\n\x3cli\x3e Moroccan salon\r\n\x3c/li\x3e\n\x3c/ul\x3e\n\x3c/div\x3e\n\x3cdiv class=\"services\"\x3eHave you booked your Private Transfer?\x3c/div\x3e\n\x3c/div\x3e\n\x3c/div\x3e\n\x3cdiv class=\"clearboth\"\x3e\x3c/div\x3e\n\x3c/div\x3e" }
